Traditional depictions of Shiva focus more on his destructive side, immortalized in the Hindu epics. This intricately carved sandstone sculpture of Shiva and his consort Parvathi showcases Shiva's other side as a householder, while also retaining typical elements of iconography including his Third Eye, Vasuki, the snake, coiled around his neck, the crescent moon adorning him as the river Ganga flows from his matted locks.
