Gajdant: Lord Ganesha, The Elephant Teeth Lord

This artifact done on Arecanut Leaf is an artistic representation of Lord Ganesha. He is also know as Ekadanta and there is an interesting tale to it. It is a known fact the Indian epic Mahabharata is recited by mahamuni Veda Vyas. Lord Ganesha was appointed to write down the epic as Vyasa recited it. The lord agreed to do this on one condition that the muni would not stop reciting until it is done. Veda Vyas now put forth a condition that Ganesha should understand every verse before writing it down. It is said that it took them 3 continous years of saying and understanding to complete the epic. In this span, Lord Ganesha's pen once broke down. Staying true to his word, the lord broke one of his tusks into half and continued writing. Such is the commitent of Lord Ganesha to his work.
